Graduates who have majored in biotechnology typically make use of the methods of molecular biology and genetic engineering on the one hand and engineering science on the other. They employ cell culture techniques, operate bioreactors and develop biotechnology processes. They transfer procedures tested in the laboratory to full-scale engineering operations and are generally responsible for the smooth running of the production processes. In addition, they design and supervise bioprocess engineering facilities. Thanks to the broad-based interdisciplinary character of the program, graduates are equipped to work in a wide range of fields of bio-engineering known as red, green, white and grey biotechnology.
